PACKING TIPS AND LIST

With just over a week to go, here's our revision of the packing list (starting with packing tips).

Packing Tips
  1. Pack light – take half of what you think you need!
  2. Pack one check-in suitcase and one carry-on. Pack only as much as you can carry – not roll for a quarter mile. Your carry on luggage should be no more than 7kg, while your checked in luggage should be no more than 15 kg, allowing at least 5 kg for mission materials, gifts etc.
  3. Don't bring too much cash. Between $200-$300 will be more than sufficient. For good exchange rates between the S$ and Philippine peso, try Lucky Plaza's Tukar Wang stalls.
  4. Avoid taking contact lenses if possible.
  5. Pack liquids like lotions and aftershave in resealable plastic bags
  6. Pack in “used” suitcases, not brand new ones.
  7. Pack the heaviest items on the bottom.
  8. Tie a coloured ribbon / yarn on the handle of each team member’s suitcase to make them easy-to-identify at baggage claim. We will provide red, white and blue ribbons bunched as one.
  9. Mark each bag with your name, address and telephone number, but ideally, this information should be on a covered luggage tag so that it cannot be read by the casual passer-by.
10. Dress modestly out of respect for the host culture.
11. Simplify your hair dressing and make-up routine.
12. Leave jewelry at home; Normal watches are OK.
13. Have one team member bring the basic first-aid kit for each group.
