9 DAYS LEFT~!

Our departure date is edging closer and closer and we are already in our final preparations for our mission trip to Bicol. We do not have much time left so we would really have to put in more effort if we want to complete what we need to do in time. We are already in the last stretch of preparation so lets buck up and commit ourselved in order to make this mission trip a success!

Today's gospel was taken from Mark 10:17-21.

17And as he was setting out on his journey, a man ran up and knelt before him, and asked him, "Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?"
18And Jesus said to him, "Why do you call me good? No one is good but God alone.
19You know the commandments: `Do not kill, Do not commit adultery, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Do not defraud, Honor your father and mother.'"
20And he said to him, "Teacher, all these I have observed from my youth."
21And Jesus looking upon him loved him, and said to him, "You lack one thing; go, sell what you have, and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me."
Jesus tells us that in order to inherit eternal life, we must keep his commandments. However, we must also be able to sacrifice a little more, by fully living our life for God and bringing Christ's light to others. If we are able to give up the luxuries of life for God, we would definitely be rewarded well in heaven. As we go on this mission trip, we have to remember that we are doing this for God. By showing love and compassion for the people in Bicol, we are loving God. If we can fully leave our comfortable lives in Singapore, and wholeheartedly help the needy around us, we would truly be serving him and we would inherit eternal life.
