FIRST DAY IN BICOL ~ YAY! (:

It was a really really really super long day for all of us. Starting our journey with a prayer at the Budget Terminals. We were all READY to go to Bicol (: to carry out our mission. We landed in Manila at 4.45am. REALLY EARLY IN THE MORNING!!! dragging drousy bodies off the plane, we had an EXTREMELY filling breakfast. (WHO EATS RICE FOR BREAKFAST?!?!)  Shortly after, we proceeded to our transfer flight to Legazpi. All of us slept even before the plane took off.
Landing in Legazpi, we were greeted by the sight of the magnificent volcano. On the road to our hostel, we were fascinated by the numerous cows and horses (no llamas) we saw along the road. We were also shocked to see the difference in lifestyle here in the Philippines.  It was raining heaily and many places were flooded, making it difficult for us to buy our supplies. So we headed to the market, the only sheltered place within reach and bought most of the stuff we needed for our school visit. We were all distracted by the cheap products we saw at the shopping centres (Chadwyn and his 7 angry birds bottles). Then we had another long journey back to Legazpi where we bought drum sets and guitars to be donated to the schools, and where, as Keefe would like to point out, we had to pay to use the toilets. Headed back and had an awesome dinner at some random resort and spent our time bonding playing broken telephone. Patrick likes to eat donkeys topped with fresh cream and sour grapes became Chadwyn likes to talk shit and monkeys. Then we went back to hostel, freshened up, reflected on our day and had a short praise and worship section.
It has been a fruitful day for us, experiencing life in a different environment, meeting friendly and hospitable people and getting all the materials we needed for the next few days. THEN WE PLAYED WITH LIGHTSTICKS AND MARIANA MADE HER SHIRT GLOW IN THE DARK :) It's 11.30 now and we have to sleep so sorry for the short post :)

Erm Uncle Al here... Day is nearly done, and despite early hiccups and disruptions to our original schedule (I guess God has other plans for us), we managed to achieve most of what we wanted to do. Heavy rains put paid to our plans to shop around in Guinobatan. So we motored off to Legaspi where we managed to get most of our things at Ong Enterprises and Pacific Mall. We were back in the hostel by 6.15 and had our dinner at Casa Basilisa Resort by 9pm.

Another long day looms, and the teens, weary as they are now and needing sufficient sleep for the coming day are raring to go. You can feel it in the sense of urgency of their every move,  every question, every request. All I can say now is -- keep it up guys, but rest well.

Till the next blog... signing off for now. I need a charger for my Blackberry!!!!!
